Every year on the first day of fall we head on a drive to the mountains to look at the beautiful leaves, and have a cold weather picnic. I bring a pot of calico beans, leaf shaped bisquits, and usually some special fall treats for the kids to have in the car on the way, and we listen to Barn*y’s Halloween songs! We were a little late in heading up this year – it’s much harder now that the big kids have so many other activities, but it is one of my favorite days of the whole year, so late or not, we headed out!
Sadie decided to head out and explore with her big brother…
and our little Lissi decided that it was so cold the only way to enjoy the mountains that day was snuggled up in her daddy’s arms 
The mountains and leaves were as beautiful as ever, but the most beautiful sight of all was my sweet kids exploring and enjoying the world together!
